Just putting in a good word for the Aura Pro low price-point basic Vans snowboard boot. I have loved this boot and it has ridden well and is comfortable all day. The BOA lace system is definitely worth the up-charge vs the standard lace version, but I imagine the lace up feels just as good. Its comfortable, warm and packs in well after use. I did notice a break in period though so give them a few easy days to break in before taking them out for anything important. I was hoping I wouldn't have regrets going with the base model but it worked out great. I suppose a higher price-point boot will get you something better, but if you're looking to keep the cost low and waffling between prices I can attest that the base model is a great, workable boot. Side Notes: I did notice some slight rubbing in the heal during a split board backcountry tour with all of the movement during the climbs once, but it was only once during a long and rough day after being out of them for the summer. (For this reason I decided on 4 stars instead of 5) I've taken them on lots of low-angle tours with no issues. Something to consider though. Great resort boot, maybe worth considering something else if you're looking to do hard, long, steep backcountry days. They have since released an Aura Pro 2.0 and the tread on mine is different. They improved the top of the exterior toe with a TPU coated fabric as well. The Aura Pro isn't available on Vans.com anymore but can still be found at other retailers.
